K-Elec's official Factory Launch at the Sarin Industrial Park in Syokimau on December 11, 2025
Something remarkable happened in Syokimau on December 11, 2025. Inside the Sarin Industrial Park, amid the hum of assembly lines. K-Elec officially opened Kenya's newest electronics manufacturing plant and with it, a bold new chapter in the country's industrial story. The factory is a joint venture between K-Elec, a Seoul-based technology firm, and DL Group a Kenyan company led by industrialist Dr. David Langat. Together, they are producing premium home appliances: refrigerators and televisions, assembled on Kenyan soil to Korean quality standards. What used to be imported is now being made here. He noted that interest from neighboring countries, including Tanzania, signals strong regional potential for expansion. He also revealed that plans are underway to establish a cosmetology manufacturing line, responding to rising demand for beauty products. K-Elec is the first company to assemble these appliances locally, a move expected to reduce production timelines, lower consumer prices, and expand access to high-quality electronics across East Africa. The establishment of the factory signals growing investor confidence in Kenya’s industrial future and aligns with national efforts to promote local manufacturing, attract foreign direct investment, and build skilled labor capacity. Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade and Industry Hon. Lee Kinyanjui set the tone clearly: "Industrialization is the backbone of sustainable economic growth. "Kenya has the talent and our goal is to make this country a manufacturing hub for East Africa." Nam Kyo Jung, Founder & CEO, K-Elec The Republic of Korea's Ambassador Kang Hyung Shik described the plant as a milestone in bilateral relations and it is. K-Elec brings global manufacturing expertise; Kenya brings talent, market access, and a government actively incentivizing local production. The partnership is designed for scale from day one.
